Our History

The Greenwich Seventh-Day Adventist Church has a long history dating back to early 1969. Since then we have moved location and into a much bigger building which saw the then Deptford Seventh-Day Adventist Church become what is now known as Greenwich Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Through the years we have had the service of a number of pastors who have helped to nurture and develop the church into what it is today. To give a brief synopsis, the ministers  who served are as follows:

Pastor Mark Leeds
Pastor Brian Martin
Pastor Walker
Pastor David Hughes
Pastor Humphrey Walters
Pastor Theodore Sargeant
Pastor Lincoln Hynes
Pastor James Phillip
Pastor Terry Messenger
Pastor Nerval Myrie
Pastor Kevin Johns
Pastor Hamilton Williams
Pastor Guthrie
Pastor Simeon Esson
Pastor Otis Lewis (incumbent)

  • The Deptford Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 470 New Cross Road was formed, which started as a small group in the home of the late Sis B.A. Newton at Gosterwood Street.

  • Church building at 470 New Cross Road was purchased.

  • With joy, thanksgiving and praise we dedicated the building as a Church to the Lord under the management and direction of Pr Haynes and Pr Perry.

  • Started the search for a new building owing to a growing membership, the same year we looked at the then St. Paul's Church of England building which was in a derelict and dilapidated state, located at Devonshire Drive, Greenwich, London SE10 8JZ.

  • St. Paul's Church of England building purchased at Devonshire Drive, London SE10 8JZ.

  • Moved into newly refurbished building in October 1993.

  • Official opening of the new church building 5-7 May 1995. Members all rallied together adding finishing touches to ensure building was fully functional and cosmetically pleasing for the event.

Bible Verse of the Day
